In this card; we see the young man holding his staff in a defensive stance. He has had some rough times lately, and he fears more of the same so he becomes naturally guarded. Perhaps he’s so caught up in defending his position that he fails to see the feelings of others, or becomes unable to recognize his own true feelings without having them colored by doubt and insecurity. While it’s natural to be cautious being too guarded can sabotage your best intentions. An open mind is the best weapon to win the most difficult battles.
Position 1: Background | Present Concern
A period of pressure is upon you and multiple areas are affected. You may have trouble figuring out the best way to act; a period of feeling on guard or apprehensive.
Position 2: Your Drive and Motivations
You want a definite answer and direction in your current circumstances. Tired of waiting for things to happen. Feeling like circumstances are slipping out of your control.
Position 3: What’s Blocking You – Fears and Subconscious
Being troubled by unsatisfactory relationships or conditions, protecting something or someone you possibly shouldn’t. or being edgy or hostile to defend yourself from being hurt. Too many worries, anxiety may get the better of you and impact your judgment at times.
Position 4: Perspective and Further Awareness – What you Need to See Clearly
Work on improving yourself instead of trying to fix external situations or other people. When we don’t want to face ourselves; there is a tendency to direct our attention outwards. This leads to more frustration and continued disappointment ultimately. The only person you control is you. Let go of being defensive and open up to other possibilities.
Position 5: Course of Action
We can’t change outer circumstances, but we are in full control of how we react and respond to them. Don’t believe that the “ends justify the means” be true to yourself.
