This card symbolizes the depths of the emotional realm and can encompass anxiety, subconscious fears and even bouts of depression. The scorpion rises up out of the water(emotions) and is poised to strike. Often our emotions and feelings of being overwhelmed can sting like this scorpions bite. It is in these moments we are called to remember the power we have to rise above circumstances. Our power lies in our ability to choose how we will act, what we will believe etc.  Learn to take charge of your reactions and don’t be overcome by your emotions. This too shall pass.

Position 1: Background | Present Concern

Inner conflict, struggle, feelings of dread, fear of the unknown, a changeable or deceptive course of events that leaves you feeling overwhelmed or anxious.

Position 2: Your Drive and Motivations

Taking the pessimists view, or feeling overwhelmed by emotions. Wanting things to go your way, but setting yourself up for disappointments by always doubting that good will come to you.

Position 3: What’s Blocking You – Fears and Subconscious

Fears of being deceived, dread. You can not see clearly on any level at the present and tend to jump to wrong conclusions or make ill-informed decisions. Feeling you are treated unfairly by others. Being disillusioned in people or in your experiences. A tendency to feel victimized by your circumstances.

Position 4: Perspective and Further Awareness – What you Need to See Clearly

You need to focus more on the positives. Your pessimism keeps you stuck in a negative cycle of events because you focus your energy in the wrong direction. Only when you learn to accept life as it is and embrace it as a growing and learning experience will you find peace. We all suffer sometimes, the thing to remember is that there is a law of polarity in the universe. Without Night you would not know Day. Without sorrow, you could not know joy. Acceptance is your key to a brighter tomorrow.

Position 5: Course of Action

Learn to separate from your emotions enough to remain objective, so that your emotions serve as a gauge and not the pilot directing your journey. This is how you make peace with all aspects of your life. You have a choice as to how you respond to events in your life, you can be empowered and manage them through decisive action. We never have to be the victim of our circumstances, we always choose how we react to outside events.
