Alphabetical Glossary of Terms Used Throughout the Book.
ADC: After Death Communication. This is a direct type of Spirit communication in which a medium is Not used. Often these visits occur in dream states with loved ones who have crossed, or when one is just falling asleep or waking.
NDE: Near Death Experience. Fairly Self Explanatory ;). Process in which one makes the transition and is then revived and brought back. Common sightings of NDE survivors are tunnels with light, visions of celestial beings, and reawakening to heightened psychic abilities.
OBE: Out of Body Experience.
This is not a near death experience, but a method by which one spontaneously or consciously leaves the body to walk in Spirit. Often this is done during deep stages of meditation, and can even happen unconsciously during sleeping hours
REM: Rapid eye movement or REM sleep is the period of sleep during which dreaming occurs.
Aura: Field of energy that surrounds all living things. Some are able to see the colors of the aura, and there are also some methods of photography in which the aura can supposedly be photographed.
Automatic Writing: The practice of letting spirit communicate thorugh you with a pen and paper, or by typing. The individual steps aside and allows Spirit to take over the hand to bring forward messages. I caution those who are new to this arena about doing this, as often our fears can cause us to communicate with our subconscious and bring forward not nice messages. It may also be possible for an inexperienced person to bring through a not nice person from the other side who may mess with you by writing weird messages etc.. I liken this to a ouija board and suggest staying away from it. This of course is merely my own personal opinion ;).
Brow Chakra: Also known as the "third eye" chakra. This is the chakra point located between the eyes on the forehead. It is associated with psychic ability.
Chakras: Subtle energy points in the auric field that correspond to certain areas of the physical, spiritual, mental, and emotional bodies of the individual.
Channeling: Communication of messages from Spirit Guides, Angels, Ascended Masters, your Higher Self. This differs from Mediumship in that mediumship is where we communicate with the deceased loved ones of others. (in many places the terms Mediumship and Channeling are used interchangeably - for the purposes of this book I will refer to them from my frame of reference and experience)
Chi: The life force energy that flows in and around all living things, also known as "prana" or "universal energy" etc.
Clairaudience: "Clear Hearing" the ability to obtain psychic information through sounds
Clairsentience: also "empath" the ability to pick up psychic information through feelings.
Clairvoyance: "Clear Sight" the psychic ability that allows the individual to obtain information through images.
Crown Chakra: The chakra point located at the top of the head above the crown.
Divination: The practice of using different tools such as tarot, runes, etc to gain insight into situations.
Empath/Empathic: See Clairsentience
Feng Shui: A practice that teaches how to organize living and work space for the most positive flow of chi and creative energy.
Heart Chakra: Located above the center of the chest, associated with the heart and Unconditional love
I-ching: A divination oracle used to gain insight into the psyche of oneself, good tool for reflection.
Kundalini: A form of spiritual awakening. It refers to the store of Spiritual Energy that lies dormant in the base of the spinal column and is raised though spiritual awareness and practice. In some individuals this happens spontaneously, and can be very unnerving. One of the side effects can be profound increase in psychic abilities.. this does NOT mean one should go looking for this experience.. it can be very trying for those who are going through it. Look in the class netlinks section and research it to gain insight on exactly what it is and what it does.
Lucid Dreaming: a state of dreaming that is very vivid and lifelike. These dreams hold important messages.
Mediumship: The practice of communication with loved ones who have passed on.
Psychometry: The process where information is transferred through touch. By holding an object the receiver is able to
pick up on the energy/people etc that have had contact with that object.
Root Chakra: This chakra is located at the base of the spine
Runes: Divination tool comprised of stones with symbols that are cast and read.
Sacral Chakra: This chakra point is located a few inches above the genitals, but below the Solar Plexus.
Solar Plexus: This chakra point is located below the heart chakra, above the space where the rib cage spreads out. Approx a few inches above the belly button.
Throat Chakra: Chakra point located above the adam's apple associated with all forms of communication.
Keep in mind this is a brief summary of definitions. For more information refer to the course work, or do searches on any internet search engine for the words and you should be able to pull up a lot of information.
