In this card; we see the young woman awakening from a nightmare as the swords loom ominously over her head. This is a wake-up call, and now our eyes are open and we can begin to see the truth in the situation. This is a card that demands introspection and analysis. What is it you fear? Have you lost your sense of purpose? If so address these issues so that you can move forward into brighter days ahead.

Position 1: Background | Present Concern

Anxiety over your future, restrictions in reaching your goals, feeling deprived. Uncharacteristic behaviors, depression, and fear.

Position 2: Your Drive and Motivations

You are looking for hope or promise for a brighter tomorrow. A lack of positive direction or a need to free yourself from a troubling situation.

Position 3: What’s Blocking You – Fears and Subconscious

A tendency to focus on the negative, pessimism. You feel betrayed by life at times because you throw your heart and soul into things that don’t seem to work the way you wanted them too. Nightmares or troubled behavior is often times indicated here also. A period of time where you may not know what is in your best interests or may act contrary to your true nature. Self-defeating behaviors.

Position 4: Perspective and Further Awareness – What you Need to See Clearly

A definite wake-up call is present with this card. Sometimes what looks negative on the surface is a blessing in disguise. Don’t allow yourself to remain stuck in situations that are fruitless. Take action to correct for losses/mistakes. Leave room for a new beginning spiritually. Learn to master fear by accepting its presence, but learning to maneuver around it.

Position 5: Course of Action

Running away from problems only postpones the inevitable. Learn to look within and find out what the underlying fears are and confront them to rid yourself of obstacles. If you feel compelled to go against your true nature, ask yourself honestly why you may be choosing a harmful path.
