Tarot Interpretations of the Emperor

**If you did not read the previous post/lesson on Starting a Tarot Journal you need to do that now before starting/continuing with the individual card lessons! You can view it Here.

Over time we will have journal entries/lessons for each of the 78 cards. Journals are great for developing an understanding of your cards as you work on them over time. Pull the corresponding card from your deck to use for each of the individual lessons.

For the purposes of these lessons I am using a Waite deck, but the beauty to learning Tarot this way is that you can use a journal for any deck you wish and you will learn it properly! Not by memorizing a bunch of definitions, but by actually connecting with your own cards.

Below is a series of questions for you to consider for each card. By answering the questions in your journal you will be telling your own story… Below the series of questions are my thoughts/interpretations of the cards…. PLEASE do your own journal entry first – so that they are your own unique answers! Trust me it works better that way

• What is the first thing you notice about this card?
• Who is the Character represented & what is he/she doing?
• What clothing does the character wear?
• What Colors do you see?
• What is the background?
• How does the card make you feel?
• What is your initial reaction/response to this card?
• What additional symbols are in this card and what do they mean to you?

My Journal Entry

(reminder I used the Universal Waite deck for mine)

The background on this card is red/orange. The man sits with on his throne with a very serious, contemplative look on his face. He seems very learned and knowledgeable. He holds himself well. The rams heads on the throne to me speak of power and dominion, strength and the ability to overcome obstacles. The mountains behind the throne to me also suggest that this person has “moved mountains” and is very disciplined and controlled. He has what appears to be armor on the legs/feet and a red cloak on his body. The abundance of red to me speaks of passion and perhaps a bit of temper. The authoritarian aspects. When this card comes up it can indicate a need to take control or be more disciplined in ones own life.
