Free Tarot Lessons: The Magician

Tarot Interpretations of the Magician

So we are going to start our Tarot Journals now. If you did not read the previous post/lesson on Starting a Tarot Journal you need to do that now before we go any further! You can view it Here.

I am going to start by posting Tarot lessons on each of the Major Arcana Cards and then move through the suits. Eventually we will have journal entries/lessons for each of the 78 cards. Pull the corresponding card from your deck to use for these lessons.

********************

For the purposes of these lessons I am using a Waite deck, but the beauty to learning Tarot this way is that you can use a journal for any deck you wish and you will learn it properly! Not by memorizing a bunch of definitions, but by actually connecting with your own cards.

Below is a series of questions for you to consider for each card. By answering the questions in your journal you will be telling your own story… Below the series of questions are my thoughts/interpretations of the cards…. PLEASE do your own journal entry first - so that they are your own unique answers! Trust me it works better that way :)

  • Card: The Magician

  • What is the first thing you notice about this card?
  • Who is the Character represented & what is he/she doing?
  • What Colors do you see?
  • What is the background?
  • How does the card make you feel?

My Journal Entry

(reminder I used the Universal Waite deck for mine)

The first things I notice when I look at my card are the bright yellow background and the man with a glowing white aura and bright red robe. He has a determined look on his face and seems very confident like ‘hey look at me - look what I can do”. On the table in front of him I see a sword cup coin and wand - all the tarot suits are represented here. There are a lot of flowers at the bottom as well in white and red - purity and passion. He has an infinity loop over his head which I take to be his connection with his source.. One hand points to the sky (universe) and the other to the ground (physical realm). When I look at this card I feel empowered and inspired to find my own power. It makes me want to create something or form a new destiny. All of the suits on the table to me tell me about being resourceful and making the most of what I have been given. This card evokes faith, passion and purpose and the man seems to be completely on purpose with manifesting his desires. The red/white tell me his intentions are pure and noble and that he is passionate about his cause which helps give him that drive and determination. The gold or sunny background makes me feel invigorated and nourished.. something I feel we can only truly experience when we push ourselves to grow and reach more of our potential. To me this is a card of seeing what you are made of.
