Learn to Read Tarot Cards _ The Suit of Pentacles/Coins

The Suit of Pentacles: An Overview/Brief intro

Pentacles are the suit that represent the results of an action or conclusion. They speak of the potential and/or actual rewards or consequences of a course of action. They represent the material realm, prosperity, resourcefulness and abundance. When multiple coins/pentacles show up in a spread it tends to indicate an end to a cycle or wrapping something up.Below is a chart with brief descriptions of each of the Pentacles cards.

  • Card: Ace of Pentacles
  • Simple Interpretation: Ace’s speak of new beginnings and opportunities, coins the cards of completion so often this Ace will come up to signify something new coming from something old, or restarting a forgotten endeavor. It also indicates that a new idea has strong potential or is likely a good risk.
  • Card: Two of Pentacles
  • Simple Interpretation: This is a card of balance and speaks of maintaining harmony between meeting the demands/needs of the material world as well as the inner realms and spiritual world. when this card comes up it speaks of balance and finding what is both personally fulfilling but also ‘pays the bills’
  • Card: Three of Pentacles
  • Simple Interpretation: This is a card of communications, bringing together the traditional with new opportunities. It also speaks of cooperation and coming together for the highest good for all concerned.
  • Card: Four of Pentacles
  • Simple Interpretation: Clinging too tightly to ideals, fear of loss keeps this person stagnant and staying still rather than growing. Learning when to hold on and when to let go. Stubborness or denial can also be indicated here.
  • Card: Five of Pentacles
  • Simple Interpretation: Possible material loss, feeling a lack of support or encouragement. A need to seek shelter or seek the wisdom of others whose experience is greater than yours. Can also indicate two people or a group of people who bring out the worst in one another rather than building each other up.
  • Card: Six of Pentacles
  • Simple Interpretation: Finding balance between give and take, being generous but responsible, trust and accepting help when its needed, offering it when you can.
  • Card: Seven of Pentacles
  • Simple Interpretation: Disillusionment, wanting to move forward but unsure what goals to pursue, taking time to find oneself, feeling burnout or boredom particularly in career/livelihood areas.
  • Card: Eight of Pentacles
  • Simple Interpretation: Persistence, hard work, patience, dedication. Turning ones skills or talents into a lucrative business, entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Card: Nine of Pentacles
  • Simple Interpretation: Support, vision, reaching higher, taking chances on ones dreams. The vision and “bigger picture” represented by the soaring falcon and the support and guidance represented by the woman guide.
  • Card: Ten of Pentacles
  • Simple Interpretation: A compromise or solution that benefits all concerned. A profitable or successful conclusion to a venture, coming to agreement or a beneficial meeting or alliance.
  • Card: Page of Pentacles
  • Simple Interpretation: Youthful, studious and always pondering ways in which to better your position. Strategy and focused efforts. Personality Traits hardworking, studious, rather serious nature, ambitious, self-focused
  • Card: Knight of Pentacles
  • Simple Interpretation: Strength, motivation to see things through from start to finish, persistence and loyalty. Personality Traits: hard working, loyal, dedicated to a cause. Old fashioned, a provider, a good neighbor.
  • Card: Queen of Pentacles
  • Simple Interpretation: Generosity, hard work brings its own rewards, a sense of gratitude and satisfaction at a job well done. Leadership and responsibility. Personality Traits: A strong businesswoman, one who manages time and resources well. Generous and kind but very “by the book” and businesslike
  • Card: King of Pentacles
  • Simple Interpretation: A successful conclusion due to taking positive actions on ones ideas. Ambition, reaching goals, profit and reward. Personality Traits: Authoritative, meticulous, driven and ambitious. One who puts their career first or bases a sense of self-worth or identity on their career/acheivements.
