Tarot Interpretations of the Empress
**If you did not read the previous post/lesson on Starting a Tarot Journal you need to do that now before starting/continuing with the individual card lessons!
You can view it Here.
Over time we will have journal entries/lessons for each of the 78 cards.
Pull the corresponding card from your deck to use for each of the individual lessons.

For the purposes of these lessons I am using a Waite deck, but the beauty to learning Tarot this way is that you can use a journal for any deck you wish and you will learn it properly!
Not by memorizing a bunch of definitions, but by actually connecting with your own cards.
Below is a series of questions for you to consider for each card. By answering the questions in your journal you will be telling your own story… Below the series of questions are my thoughts/interpretations of the cards….
PLEASE do your own journal entry first – so that they are your own unique answers! Trust me it works better that way

My Journal Entry
(reminder I used the Universal Waite deck for mine)
This woman appears very feminine to me and she is surrounded by all types of goodness. There is a bright sunny sky and a lot of green vegetation.
She has a crown on which gives her a feeling of authority and power, but she isn’t surrounded by material things at all, she is surrounded by nature and a field of wheat. All things that symbolize fertility and abundance.
In her hand she holds a scepter and she looks to be at purpose in the way she is relaxing and taking things in. Her power is more silent and is more like silent wisdom and an inner knowing that she has all she needs around her.
I feel a lot of desire to create or manifest things when i see this card. The woman symbolizes pregnancy and fertility as she is covered by a large gown that indicates being with child. There is a lot of creative force and abundance present.
This card to me represents sustenance, abundance, creation and making the most of what one has been given. Simple abundance and grace.

- What Colors do you see?
- What is the background?

The first thing I notice when I look at the priestess card are the controlled look on the woman’s face. The Tora on her lap and the moon at her feet. This card has a regal yet serene feeling to me. The black and white pillars to her sides represent opposition or polarity and she sits firmly planted in between so she is well-balanced and turns to her wisdom to remain objective. The moon at her feet indicates control over her emotions and understanding of her subconscious. The blue cloak around her shoulders to me indicates spiritual wisdom, serenity and perhaps even a bit of a somber or more serious tone to her. The white gown and crown symbolize purity and connection with her source. This card to me represents turning to our inner world/guidance and relying on our faith/wisdom to guide us rather than being pulled by polarities or outer influences.

The first things I notice when I look at my card are the bright yellow background and the man with a glowing white aura and bright red robe. He has a determined look on his face and seems very confident like ‘hey look at me – look what I can do”. On the table in front of him I see a sword cup coin and wand – all the tarot suits are represented here. There are a lot of flowers at the bottom as well in white and red – purity and passion. He has an infinity loop over his head which I take to be his connection with his source.. One hand points to the sky (universe) and the other to the ground (physical realm). When I look at this card I feel empowered and inspired to find my own power. It makes me want to create something or form a new destiny. All of the suits on the table to me tell me about being resourceful and making the most of what I have been given. This card evokes faith, passion and purpose and the man seems to be completely on purpose with manifesting his desires. The red/white tell me his intentions are pure and noble and that he is passionate about his cause which helps give him that drive and determination. The gold or sunny background makes me feel invigorated and nourished.. something I feel we can only truly experience when we push ourselves to grow and reach more of our potential. To me this is a card of seeing what you are made of.

I’ve been very fortunate this summer while hiking and have managed to capture some beautiful wildlife photos. I love animals so much and I hope you’ll enjoy these pictures too
especially the squirrel he was too funny!
he was hanging of for dear life to those light tree branches eating those berries…
The first one isn’t pretty… in fact he’s rather creepy but interesting! This little fellow was perched on our tire when we emerged from our tent one morning and I just had to take a picture. This is a cicada that just shed its outer shell….

Next is a dragonfly with the neatest wings I’ve ever seen…. really the cute stuff is coming later
lol….

Next I have a butterfly and honeybee – both beautiful and abundant in Pere Marquette state park in Illinois.

Next is a fawn that was bedded down in some tall grass…. so sweet I fell in love with this picture when I saw it …. awwwwwwww

and last but certainly not least my funny squirrel friend eating his berries….he’s so cute and he was so comical it was a real joy taking a hundred pictures to get him sitting still long enough for these
lol….

That’s all for now – hope to find some more wildlife to capture on my next trip in another week or so
I love camping and hiking!
Hope you enjoyed the pics!
