<description>Sydney has a great transport system, as does melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. Brisbane (Qld) is pretty good (depending who you talk to) but here on the sunshine coast just 1 1/4 hours from brisbane it is pardon the expression 'crap'. It has only been the last 8 years that we have had a (ir)regulular bus service. It does have bus stops, but it is called hail and go, because that will give you some indication of how far apart the stops are!
If the bus is full, then you can hail all you like because the driver will keep going!
That is how the little fellow Daniel Morecombe was taken, he was waiting for the bus to get a haircut, and he was never seen again. The bus driver admitted that he did not stop for him because his bus was &quot;full&quot;.
Full or not, why would you leave an 11 year old child standing on the side of a semi highway when he has hailed you?
Apart from that - sorry I got sidetracked- the fairs are expensive too. I have only caught a bus once here and that was from the mall 2 miles from our house, and it cost $3.50 and I still had to walk about 500 yards to reach my home!
So christen you can see that we really need to drive our cars here too, especially when you have the weekly shopping to cart with you :)
On the upside tho we have the most beautiful beaches on our doorstep, and a fabulous climate with our winter rarely being cold enough to turn the heating on. Winter starts tomorrow and I am still swimming in our pool!

I would one day love to come to the states, my sister and her late husband lived in El Paso for years. I will get there.........eventually
Take care
love your pics and your blog

<description>Wow, I don't know how you all do it. In Europe I know they have mass transit systems that are fairly well connected - not so here in the US everything is so far apart and you have to drive - very rare to have good public transportation which is unfortunate. Also we have the technology to develop clean fuel - we just aren't doing it and that bothers me.

How is Australia with their transit? At 7$ a gallon I should hope better than we are... it would be impossible to live here with those kinds of prices goodness!</description>

<description>Hi there to Christen and everyone.

The fuel prices have unfortunately hit everyone's pockets. This weekend on the sunshine coast in queensland the fuel prices are close to $1.40 per litre, which brings it to just over $7.00 per gallon!
Queensland motorists are supposed to get a relief of 8 cents per litre on the fuel they buy, and if that is so then really we are the most expensive state in australia to buy fuel!

None of the other states get this so called relief, and NSW particularly pays an extra so many cents for road improvement, and then another so many cents for something else in their fuel costs and their fuel is only a few cents dearer than us!

And yes janie, I sympathise with you as well, I can remember fuel prices were beyond when I was over there a few years ago! I just worked it out roughly and we would be paying $5 australian per litre in the UK!!!!!!!!

love the site and love yor blog!

<description>hiya to all my american friends - You are stunned by your gas prices, well over here in england you would be absolutley stunned at how much we have to pay for a litre of petrol/gas - some places it is nearly £1 a litre which at the moment the exchange rate is $2 to £1. Which makes $4 a gallon quite good from here!! I can't do the maths!, but i am sure someone will.

take care love hugs and light
love the new site christen
